How to read a Honda MOT history
  1. Mileage direction. Every reading should be equal to or higher than the last. A drop of more than a few hundred miles is either a tester's typo, a replaced instrument cluster, or clocking — the paid report shows the exact dates and the size of the drop.
  2. Annual mileage. Compare to about 7,100 miles a year. Well above suggests motorway or business use; well below can mean short cold journeys or time off the road.
  3. Advisories that repeat. The same part appearing on three or more tests is usually an unfixed fault or an owner who repairs only at MOT time.
  4. Gaps. More than about 14 months between tests means the vehicle was off the road, on SORN, or driven untested. Ask which.
  5. Dangerous defects. The vehicle should not have been driven until they were fixed. Ask for the receipt.
  6. Tax and recall. Both are checked separately (DVLA / DVSA). If either reads UNKNOWN we say so — unknown is not clear.
What this check does not include
Outstanding finance, insurance write-off and stolen markers are held in licensed commercial and police databases and are not part of this service. MOT and tax status are also available free on GOV.UK; you pay MOTCheck UK for the analysis, the anomaly engine and the dated PDF.
